Mixed_glia_smallMetabolic supplementation of mixed glial cells in culture

A parallel collaborative study with departmental colleagues based in the Clifford Albutt Building, Dr Mark Kotter and Koby Baranes (also previously with Joana Tavares and Dr Ana Amaral) is investigating the effect of metabolic supplementation, such as succinate, on in vitro cell culture models including iPSC derived neruons, human astrocytes, and primary rat mixed glia. This study has shown promising results in the use of succinate to improve cell energy state under both metabolic and inflammatory stress conditions, which corroborated our findings from preliminary human studies.

Find out more about our mixed glia cell culture model, published in Scientific Reports, here.
